Wow!
That’s the word that comes to mind when I think of the Athletics today!
On a freezing, wet and windy day, 36 athletes from 3rd - 6th Class headed to the ATU to represent our school at the annual SuperValu Athletics Festival. We entered 9 relay teams in 6 categories - Junior Girls, Junior Boys, Junior Mixed, Senior Girls, Senior Boys and Senior Mixed.
While the weather was not pleasant, every pupil took to the track and represented our school with pride…. and they exceeded all our expectations! We had 6 teams in finals, the most of any school in the county!
Two teams finished second overall (Junior Boys and Senior Mixed 1)… we are immensely proud of them.
Sincere thanks to Dermot McDermott who coached the children in the lead up to the competition - it really shows how much they can achieve when they have the right coach!
What a great day - hopefully all of us have defrosted by now :-).
