September in Fourth Class

2nd Oct 2024

The children have made a great start to fourth class this September, we welcomed Nela, a new pupil to our class when we returned from our summer holidays.

We start each day with a ‘Morning Meeting’ & we love these. Here we greet each other, play a game, share our opinions & chat about the plan for the day. We have learned how to say hello in many different languages. These have been a highlight of the year so far.

In maths we did lots of revision on the work we completed in 3rd class & also learned about adding and subtracting big numbers with lots of zeros😱!    We read stories about Matilda & Paddington Bear in English. We did lots of work on capital letters and synonyms. We even learned what a thesaurus is used for. 📚

Sa gaeilge bhíomar ag caint faoi Mé Féin… cén aois tú/ cé mhéad i do chlann/ mo choirp. Chanamar an t-amhrán ‘Alanna’.

We created artwork called ‘Diving into 4th Class’. The children did great work on these and they hang proudly outside our classroom door.

With the Supervalu Athletics Fest in September we did lots of practice in relay running. The children loved this & enjoyed passing the baton onto their teammates. We also took advantage of the fabulous weather & visited the playground. It was great fun🛝.

Six of our classmates represented us in the Athletic Fest in the ATU, they were brilliant and did us all proud🚀. While they were away the rest of the class tested out our culinary skills and baked queen cakes in the staffroom. We also decorated these yummy buns, the children did a wonderful job.

This September we did lots of work on the chromebooks using Canva. The children showed off their creative side & made presentations & posters on the theme ‘All About Me’, which turned out brilliant and brighten up the corridor where they are hanging.

All in all we've had a jam packed month, the children worked really hard & had great fun. Well done to the boys & girls of Fourth Class☺️👏🏼
