This October we did a lot of work in different subjects including
In english we read some chapters in our novel, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
We wrote recounts on a character called Bruno. We also wrote recounts based on a man named Pavel for our novel!
For Bruno's recount we were writing a diary entry of the day he fell off his tyre swing.
For Pavel’s we wrote about this from his point of view, what he thought of Bruno's mischief! We were also working on how to work in small groups. We were talking about the different roles including the leader, the recorder, the timekeeper and the reporter!
In math we spent a long time doing fractions! We were also drawing lines and angles using our protractor and ruler. We had a Friday test on lines and angles. We found it very easy! We were drawing tessellation art and Ciara and Clara won an art competition! Ciara won the class based competition and Clara the school based one. We went over to Junior and Senior infants to do some math with them to celebrate Maths Week! We did a maths trail in teams. We were inside the GP room and outside in our yard! With 5th class we had a maths quiz with 6 questions each round! (Julia got a homework pass!) Overall we did a lot of maths this month!!!

Alright moving on to my favorite! “Art” We drew characters using Tim Burton's style! We also drew ‘The Scream’ by Edvard Munch! We competed to make the new active school slogan and Sarah won! Hers was “Active week rocks join the fun, rain or sun” We created peace slogans, I (Mia) put quotes from celebrities about peace. And Julia put “Stop War” on hers!
This month in Religion we were picked to do readings, prayers of the Faithful and bringing up gifts at church on Saturday and Sunday! Hopefully we do it next month again as we really enjoyed it!
Coming to S.E.S.E we read about the solar system. We read a chapter in our science book about the planets we were learning about all the planets and how far they are from the sun. Fun fact: Pluto is now a dwarf planet!
During P.E. We were playing tag rugby! It's a really fun game and we definitely recommend it! The mini 7s competition was on Wednesday! It was great fun. Congratulations to Amy for winning the kicking competition. She is now through to the next round. Best of luck Amy.
Today we had a Halloween themed table quiz, it was great fun, we even ended up having a dance off between the teams🕺🏽🕺🏽
