March was another action-packed month with plenty of things happening in Room 2 and beyond. Take a look at some of our highlights from the month of March!
We completed projects on school in the past. We interviewed parents and grandparents and shared their experiences of school in the past with our class mates. School was very different long ago!
We enjoyed some gymnastics with Kate Frahill in the GP room.
Blue skies for Gaelic training with our coaches from Sligo IT. We look forward to Gaelic every Thursday!
Our novel for this term is James and the Giant Peach and we are really improving on the tin-whistle.
We read the story of the Wooden Horse of Troy and in Drama we used freeze frames to act out our favourite parts from the story.
Bhí tráth na gceist againn i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge. Bhain gach duine taitneamh as!
Ms. Corcoran was teaching us during the month of March. We enjoyed all of her lessons. We worked on length in Maths and got to measure lots of things around our classroom. We used standard and non-standard units to measure. We made this cool origami dog from paper. We painted some beautiful spring pictures. We read about the journeys of Christopher Columbus, and made our own miniature ships. We took part in the writers workshop in English, we especially liked using the editing toolbox and presenting our work from the Authors Chair. Bhíomar ag imirt cluichí Bingo leis an foclóir nua i ngaeilge.
We also went to Forest School every Friday. You can read all about it here: http://stjohnsballisodare.com/index.php/forest-school/
Finally we finished off a busy month by performing at our whole school assembly. We had a lot of fun learning the song ‘The Rattlin’ Bog’ which we performed. We also sang ‘Seo’d a Chaoi’ which is the Irish version of the song This is Me from the Greatest Showman movie. Our class added some actions which we performed along with the children from 4th, 5th and 6th Class.
