The month of March was a busy and fun-filled time in Third Class. We engaged in lots of active learning which included 3D Shape, Ancient Egypt, Song-singing & Painting. We also lived up to our ‘Active School’ status as we had gymnastics, handball, Gaelic football and swimming – phew!

We used the iPads to take photos of different 3D Shapes in the environment. We then used the Padlet app and uploaded these pictures according to their different properties. e.g. only flat faces, shapes with 8 corners etc. I think we all agreed this was a fun way to learn Maths.
In History we studied the Ancient Egyptians. We learned about their beliefs, food, work, school, pharaohs and the Pyramids. We also were a bit disgusted at how they prepared the pharaohs for burial!
Fantastic projects were created and thanks to all who assisted in the creation at home. In Art we painted Sarcophagus in groups.
Music/Seachtain na Gaeilge/Assembly
It was Third Class’s month to perform at our monthly Assembly – and what fun we had preparing to sing The Rattlin’ Bog – some of us were a little short of breath after our performance! Classes from 3rd – 6th also learned ‘Seo do Chaoi’, which is adapted from the song ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman.
Our PE has included Gaelic football coaching with Madeleine & Iarla, gymnastics with Kate Frehill, handball with Gerry Connolly (Owenmore Gaels) and swimming at Sligo Sport Complex.
