November in Sixth Class

We were very busy in Sixth Class in November.

We finished our Hip Hop classes with Mairéad and we also did some training with Sligo Rovers, which was fun. They came into the classroom to talk to us about Sligo Rovers and how we are so lucky to have such a good team in our county.

In art we studied the artist James Rizzi, we then created our own James Rizzi inspired art, and we really enjoyed that.

In maths we learned about fractions- equivalents, +/- and multiplying fractions.

I nGaeilge bhíomar ag léamh an scéal ‘Eachtra sa Sneachta’ and we learned about the Modh Orduithe. We  learned the poem, “An mhaith leat Éadaí?”

We finished reading the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and we watched the movie too. We really enjoyed both although there were some tears at the end of the movie.

Also, West Midlands Theatre Company came and performed a play for us called ‘The Bluebird’ which is from Russian folklore. It was very enjoyable.

In Science we experimented with raisins and 7up to  see how gases can make things float.

Mrs. McMoreland is joining us on Tuesdays and Thursdays to discuss human emotions and how these can impact our behaviour and reactions to situations.

We started our Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) and we completed projects on an entrepreneur and presented them to the class. We learned about some very interesting and innovative people. We are hoping to be inspired by these people as we try to think of our ‘Big Idea’ for JEP.
