June in Sixth Class

By Kate and Mary

It’s hard to believe we are almost at the end of our journey with St. John’s. Here’s our final instalment for the school year. This was a great month with Delphi being the highlight.

Music Generation: On Tuesday the 25th it was our last day with Jessie. We really enjoyed music with Jessie.

Spanish: We had our last Spanish class with Laura on Tuesday.  We learned a lot. We had a Fiesta with Laura and we danced salsa style to the song Despacito.

Cumann Na mBunscol: On the 15th of June our girls football team took part in the Cumann Na mBunscol Shield Final, we were up against Holy Family Tubbercurry. We defeated them 15-4. Thanks to Ms. McGinley, Ms. Tighe and Ms. Clarke for their hard work with us over the year.

Book Club: In book club we finished our book ‘ The Boy At The Top of The Mountain, We really enjoyed our time reading the book, eating the treats and drinking hot chocolate.

Wonder: In class we are still reading Wonder and we are really enjoying it. We will hopefully try and live by Mr. Brown’s precept ‘When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.’

Delphi: On the 17th of June we went to Delphi. We left at 4 o’clock on Monday and came back at 8 on Tuesday. When we arrived we did some activities and after we had free time. On Tuesday our first activity was bog walking after we had zip lining and tunnels. We all had a great time.

We also had a fun filled week during Active Schools week, thanks to Ms. Tighe for all her hard work making it such a success.

Graduation Mass: On the 26th of June we had our Graduation Mass. We prepared lots of songs for the mass, Geraldine and her daughter Isobel re-wrote the lyrics to the song ‘Happier’ for us and we sang it as our final song at the Graduation.

Hawkswell: On Wednesday the 26th we went to the Hawkswell for the Trad@Lunch Concert, Kate Gavin, Conor McDonagh and Ryan Sheridan were performing. They are very talented musicians. Trad@Lunch is a free event that runs through the Summer every Wednesday at 1pm in the Hawkswell so should pop along if you’re free some Wednesday.

We all have enjoyed our school year and the 8 years we spent in this school. We will miss everyone in our school and we are very sad to leave.
