February in Sixth class
February in Sixth Class was very busy and I am going to fill you in on what we have done.
Louise from the RSA paid us a visit and gave a talk about safety on the roads and in your car.
We celebrated Safer Internet Day by wearing wristbands, entering a colouring competition with Webwise and getting a talk from Vincent from Zeeko in which he told us all about Internet Safety and how to use the Internet appropriately.
This month in Music Generation we have been learning the songs ‘Adventure of a lifetime’ and ‘Nancy Mulligan’ we are having a great time.
We are working very hard with our JEP Boredom Breaker Books and we are doing very well. We have a lot of progress made and we have held a raffle for people who have paid deposits for our books to we can raise money to print our books so if you haven’t ordered one please do, we need all the support we can get.
In maths we were learning all about length. We enjoyed going outside and estimating and measuring different areas in our yard. We also enjoyed researching different world records on measurements.
We are delighted to say that Cathal performed extremely well in the Spelling Bee Competition unfortunately he just missed out on one word. He had completed successfully a phenomenal amount of rounds and came second after a tie break. He was very unlucky, we are very proud of him. Well done Cathal.
A man called Benny came and talked to us about Bees. He told us all about honey and we learned all about beehives and pollination, it was very interesting.
It was also Catholic schools week in February and we gave a presentation on our school at Mass that week. We told the congregation all about what we get up to, about the different programmes that we are involved in in our school e.g. The Green Schools Committee, The Student Council, Music Generation, Junior Entrepreneur Programme, Active Schools and Forest School. During our monthly assembly we highlighted the different nationalities in our school, there are pupils from 19 different countries around the world that are part of our school community, we learned a little about each country.
I hope you enjoyed reading February in sixth class.
