A presentation and talk on Internet safety will take place in the G.P. Room of St. John’s National School on Wednesday 4th February at 7.30pm.  Parents of all pupils are invited ti attend.  This seminar should be of particular interest to the parents of pupils from 3rd – 6th class.

Christmas Holidays

The school will close on Friday 19th December at 12:30 for the Christmas Holidays.  School will start again on Monday 5th January 2015 at 09:20!

Wishing all our families and friends a very Happy Christmas and a Wonderful 2015!

Collection for Childline

At our last Student Council meeting, Sean Tivnan (5th Class) proposed that on the day of the Christmas Holidays

every pupil would wear a Christmas jumper/hat and scarf and make a donation to Childline of a euro or two.  All Student Council members were in agreement with this.

On Friday 19th December everyone dress up in your Christmas jumpers and help out Childline while doing so!

A beautiful hand-knitted crib was donated to the Parents Association.  It really is an exquisite piece of work.  It is currently on display in the Post office in the village.  The Parents Association are raffling the crib.  Tickets are €2 each and will be on sale at the school Carol Service (Wednesday and Thursday 17th & 18th December 2014).

Each year the students from Second Class through to Fifth Class are given the opportunity to take part in swimming lessons.

To enable the teacher from each class to supervise at the pool all children in the class will have to go to the pool even if they are not swimming.

To view the Groups and associated costs for the 2014-2015 swimming classes please select Swimming 2014-2015.   The Swimming 2014-2015 swimming classes are supported by Parents in terms of supervision and also financially by the Parents Association.  Supervision is key to the lessons going ahead and for each swimming lesson the pool requires two male and two female supervisors.

If all parents were to participate, you would only be called on for one afternoon from 1.45p.m. – 3.15p.m.

Remember – No Supervision = No Swimming
